Today, Mongolian government has to change its picture of energy sector. Most people in the government are still not familiar with alternative energy sources than coal combusting-old fasion technology. Therefore, Mongolian energy industry is facing difficulties of not enough investment, competitiveness, and stability. Private sectors should be involved into energy industry in-depth and the government must implement market driven programs to promote energy industry in Mongolia.
The fact that only few power plants with relatively high capacity are operating by combusting coal is economically and environmentally not correct mechanism-today. Also distribution system from one source to dispersely distributed small population in widely stretched land is costly to take care of. Moreover, winter is a big factor that affect energy management in the country. Cold and long winter time is the real challenge to meet energy needs. Thus, it is crucial to introduce energy-efficient technologies to from industries to families. Mongolia is well-known by its blue-sky, so solar energy is an good approach to meet energy demand not only in the urban area but also in rural provinces in far.
